Large Format Diary #04 – Now also digital

Large format can be just a camera.
Or it can become a language.

Issue #04 of Large Format Diary is built exactly in that space.

This issue focuses on portraiture, explored through very different techniques:

  • Large format film (Octavian Bâlea)
  • Wet plate collodion and direct positive (Engelbert Visscher)
  • Instant analog portraiture (Zu Studio)
  • Digital on a view camera (Paolo Castiglioni)

Alongside this, two works expand the direction:

  • Graham Cassano – mixed technique
  • Paolo Mazzo – color pinhole project on the Drina bridge

Starting from this issue, there is also a new section:

The weight of seeing, curated by Fabio Boni,
focused on large format photobooks.

Today I present to you StenopeiKa’s first entirely intellectual work, “Large Format Diary,” the first Italian (but also available in English) magazine dedicated to large and ultra-large format photography. Created to understand the “why” behind the continued use of large format in photography today, its heart and rhythm will be provided by the guest of the month, who will hopefully inspire others to use large format cameras for their own work. 40 color pages will be released twice a year.
