Today I will show you how easy it is to replace the traditional bellows with a bag bellows even on the cheaper Stenopeika camera: the Hyper camera 4×5 basic.

But why change the bellows?

Because some lenses, especially those under 90mm, making very close the standard and crush so much the folds of the bellows that prevent camera movements.

It is therefore necessary a bag bellows to be able to fully exploit the movements even with this type of lens.

I would point out that the interchangeable bellows, for cameras at this price, is a rather rare virtue 🙂

New member of wetplate holder family – Wetplate holder 11×14″

Today I’ll show you the whole family of the large format wetplate holders by stenopeika and also a new member, the wetplate holder 11×14″.

Like its brothers also 11×14″ wetplate holder is made of plastic with the aluminum front, in this case also the black slide is made of aluminum.

It opens like a book like all my holders, and loads the plate from the back, it has two magnetic clasps and a mechanism with tabs at the ends of the rear part.

In compliance with international regulations, it is compatible with all 11×14″ cameras on the market.

Hyper camera 4×5 uses proprietary lens boards of 80x80mm format, so now with this adapter you can use your lens mounted on linhof lens board also on Hyper camera 4×5, as you can see in the video editing is extremely simple but above all… without losing your movements!

Today is the day to present an evergreen of stenopeiKa’s catalog: the wetplate holder, in this case 8×10″ but what you will see in the video also applies to the formats 5×7″ and 4×5″, and also ULF.

The features:

  1. the external dimensions are those of the film holder fidelity, so you can use them on all the cameras on the market
  2. the materials (pvc and aluminum) are chosen to be resistant to the chemicals used during the collodion photography process, also based on my personal experience in this type of photography
  3. easily washable materials
  4. you will not see, in the final picture on the plate, the corners where the plate is placed, this is a small secret of this support 🙂
  5. the book opening is very easy and comfortable
  6. double closure, magnetic and mechanical

Why use 11×14″ wetplate holder with magnetic connections, 1st part

Today i’ll show you the details of StenopeiKa 11×14″ native wetplate holder and 3 good reasons to to use it.

So the first one is a technical reason, this holder is different from the commercial holder because it is not plugged into the camera but it is attracted to the camera so the accidental movements are avoided during the insertion phase, because if you use this holder you don’t have a insertion phase!

The second one is esthetic reason, this holder resemble perfectly the external camera profile, obviously i speak for Stenopeika cameras, folding and tailboard, but with some modifies i could make it also for a other cameras.

The third reason (I didn’t say it in this video, but i’ll explain better in the next one)  is that the holder accepts plates up to 4 mm in thickness, one of the few in the market to accept such thick plates.
